Each of these destinations is either celebrating an exciting anniversary, opening new restaurants and hotels, or is just a darn good place to visit. So get your notebook out and start planning! These are our 9 top destination to visit in 2019.

Calgary, Canada

Calgary has what you need to have a fun-filled vacation any time of year. This city loves its festivals, and honestly who doesn’t love a good festival? Throughout the year Calgary hosts a few spectacular ones that are worth the adventure. During September, science lovers and art lovers alike can take part in the Beakerhead festival. Furthermore, beer enthusiasts can attend the Calgary International Beerfest, or Mashing Calgary, to enjoy all that is beer and fun. While exploring, make sure to see the view of Calgary from 191 meters above in the Calgary Tower. After, go luging for a truly remarkable experience at the Luge on Wheels. The 1800-meter track is the longest in the world and is sure to bring an exhilarating time.

The Florida Keys

It has been a year since Irma thrashed the Florida Keys and since then it has recovered dramatically. There are many new hotels in the area that are reopening, and opening for the first time, making this destination a hot travel destination for 2019. Book your stay at the newly renovated Baker’s Cay Resort or stay at the new Isle Bella Beach Resort that will open its doors for the first time this March. While exploring the Keys, take one of the tours to see the famous Hemingway house and do some shopping on Mallory Square and Duval Street.

Atlanta, Georgia

Atlanta is quickly making its name as the culinary capitol of the US and is the reason we put this hot city on the list for best travel destination in 2019.  The area has welcomed major restaurants like Aix and Tin Tin by chef Nick Leahy. The Aix and Tin Tin menu centers on southern French cuisine.  Also coming soon to Atlanta is the Pancake Social opening winter 2019. The restaurant is an all-day breakfast and pancake spot by Chef Anne Quatrano. Plan your trip for Super Bowl weekend for an experience that is out of this world. While exploring, see other Atlanta hot spots like the world of Coca-Cola or keep the culinary theme going with a Southern Food Walk.

New York City, New York

New York City is one of the places that people tend to visit year after year, since there is so much to do and see. This year the city is making a huge change, and by huge we mean a $25 billion dollar huge change. The new Hudson Yards neighborhood is opening in 2019, and will offer travelers many new restaurants, shops, and attractions. We think the most exciting attraction is the addition of the tallest look out point in the Western Hemisphere at 30 Hudson yards. The development will also feature a climbable sculpture by Thomas Heatherwick, known as The Vessel. The 26,000 square foot Statue of Liberty Museum will also welcome guests for the first time this year. If all that isn’t enough to make you want to go to the Big Apple, then travel to be apart of history. This year NYC is also hosting WorldPride during the entire month of June, marking the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots.

Mexico City, Mexico

Last year Mexico City was named The World Design Capitol, making it the first city to hold this title in the Americas, which is a pretty big deal. There is also a whole district in Mexico City that is a designated UNESCO World Heritage site, and it has five Aztec temples, making it a must see in 2019. While exploring see the forever home of Frida Kahlo that is now the Museo Frida Kahlo, better known as the Blue House. Go during Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) for their Desfile de Día de Muertos parade for a memory that will last a lifetime in 2019.

The Grand Canyon

This year is the 100th anniversary of the Grand Canyon National Park. To kick off the centennial year there will be multiple concerts, events, and exhibits. Furthermore, new tours are being introduced to the public, allowing visitors to see parts of the canyon that have never been seen before. The Grand Canyon is a gorgeous geological sight that every traveler should see in their lifetime. While there, take the path less traveled and see the North Rim of the canyon (during the summer and fall months) which is visited by less than 10 percent of visitors each year.

Seattle, Washington

Seattle is surely on our list of top destinations to visit in 2019. This city is full of art, culture and good times. In 2019 the famous Space Needle will continue to unveil its 100 million-dollar renovations. The most notable addition is the world’s first revolving glass floor The Loupe. This addition gives visitors a view of the ground from 500 feet above while rotating 360 degrees around the needle. Amazon is also making Seattle even more amazing with the addition of the Sphere and the Understory in the downtown area. The Sphere is a collaborative workspace, but let’s face it, that isn’t that interesting. The interesting part is the new restaurant located in The Sphere by Renee Erickson and James Beard called Willmott’s Ghost. The Understory is the visitors center for The Sphere, allowing visitors to schedule a tour to see what the new development has to offer.

Houston, Texas

This Year Houston celebrates the 50th year anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission with a flashback to 1969. The Johnson Space Center will be fully restored to its original Mission Control glory with every button and screen being the same as it did when we went to the moon. Furthermore, the Museum of Arts is getting a $450 million-dollar uplift with the addition of two new buildings, and a new conservation center, as well as a landscape upgrade. Stay at the newly renovated Lancaster Hotel in Houston. The hotel revamps its 1920’s design and includes a new art display from over 100 world-renowned Texas artist.

Lake Tahoe, California

Lake Tahoe is beautiful year-round, which is just one of the reasons it made our list of top travel destinations for 2019. During the summer months Lake Tahoe is a luxurious lake destination that is great for kayaking, swimming and boating, and it is also family friendly. During the winter months this destination is transformed into a skier’s paradise with views that are unmatched by any other destination. If you are the kind of traveler that enjoys the nightlife, then you are also in luck. Lake Tahoe is in-between California and Nevada and has its own nightlife scene with 24-hour casinos. The only decision you need to make in 2019 is which side you want to visit, North or South?
